This list does not include every municipal government. Nor does it represent every fee a government may charge and it is recommended that you contact the government to ensure that the stated fee(s) are current and accurate.

 City of Belleville (618) 233-6817 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is $50 per inspection. Occupancy permit is $40, required for new or existing home. *City only accepts check or money order and must be paid five days in advance.

Village of Cahokia (618) 337-9517 Building permit is required for new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for new or existing home, cost $50. Occupancy permit is $100.

Village of Caseyville (618) 344-1233 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for new or existing home, cost $50 for two inspections. Occupancy permit is required and is free with housing inspection. City of Chester (618) 826-2326 Building permit is based on estimated value of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is not required. Occupancy permit is not required.

City of Columbia (618) 281-7144 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for rental property only, cost $60. Occupancy permit is $22.50, required for new or existing home.

City of Fairmount City (618) 274-4504 Building permit is required for new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is $25, required for new and existing home. Occupancy permit is $25, required for new or existing home.

City of Fairview Heights (618) 489-2000 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is free (first three inspections only). Occupancy permit is$50, required for new or existing home.

Village of Freeburg (618) 539-5545 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is administered through St. Clair County government. Occupancy permit is free.

City of Lebanon (618) 537-4976 Building permit is required for new homes, varies by size and cost. Housing inspection is administered through St. Clair County government. Occupancy permit is $10, required for new or existing home.

Village of Mascoutah (618) 566-2964 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is administered through St. Clair County government. Occupancy permit is $30 and required for new or existing home.

Village of Millstadt (618) 476-1514 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is administered through St. Clair County government. Occupancy permit is not required.

Monroe County Government (618) 939-8681 Building permit is based on value of structure, required for new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for new home only, cost is $50. Occupancy permit included with housing inspection fee.

City of O'Fallon (618) 624-4500 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection and associated fee are part of the occupancy permit application process. One free re-inspection applies. Occupancy permit is $35 for existing home and $15 for new home.

Randolph County Government (618) 826-5000 Building permit is based on estimated value of structure and required for new home or structure. Housing inspection is not required. Occupancy permit is not required.

St. Clair County Government (618) 277-6600 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required. Housing inspection is required for new and existing home, cost $50 for existing home and free for new home. Occupancy permit is $50 and is required for new or existing home. Seller is the only individual that may give the Buyer the housing inspection number.

City of Sparta (618) 443-2917 Building permit is based on estimated value of home or structure. Required for new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for new or existing home, cost $10. Occupancy permit is included with housing inspection.

Village of Swansea (618) 234-0044 Building permit is based on square footage of new home construction or structure. Housing inspection is required for new construction and major remolding only. Occupancy permit is required for new construction and is free of charge.
